Every dragon has a weakness… a true hunter does not

Monster Hunter Tri with less awesomeness

113 copy

Many of you probably know it already, but for those who don’t: Capcom has removed four of the known weapontypes from the Monster Hunter Sequel for Wii. So you won’t be able to play with either

  • Gunlance
  • Dual Swords
  • Hunting Horn
  • Bow

anymore. I mean, what was so bad about them? Did the guys at Capcom suddenly realize that Monster Hunter 2 and 2G sucked because the weapons were bad? Appearently Capcom is looking for a “restart” of the series with most of the weapons from the Monster Hunter original. Nevertheless two new weapon types were added, the slashaxe and the medium Bowgun. I have to admit that the Slashaxe looks pretty nasty, as you can see in the enclosed trailer.

The handling looks similar to the longsword, however it seems that the slashaxe uses the elemental ability of itself far more efficiently than it’s relative. As for abandoning the bow, which was very popular amongst novices, the medium bowgun is supposed to fill the gap. Anyway, I don’t like it. IMHO changing the platform to Wii instead of producing a sequel for the Playstation was a bad idea to begin with…
