Diablos is definately one of the most annoying wyvern there is in the game. He is incredibly resistent and gives you quite a run for your money. The most important thing in a fight with Diablos is to never lose track of his movements. Always keep him in your field of vision. Pretty much all of his attacks can be evaded easily if you have the timing down. Still, just one mistake can be fatal. When Diablos attempts to dive down into the sand, throw sonic bombs. The wyvern will get stuck in the sand and you’ll be able to land a couple of hits. If he however manages to dive without you being able to stop it, make sure you don’t stop moving. Diablos most crucial attack is the one where he emerges from the sand and pierces you with his horns. Once you’ve been hit, it becomes very hard to recover. His horns however do also present an opportunity for you to weaken diablos. By forcing him to charge into a wall, he will, due to his horns, be stuck for a couple of seconds in which you can deal damage without having to worry about counter attacks. By hitting the horns themselves you can also destroy them. However once they have been clipped, the trick with the wall won’t work anymore.

The second thing you have to consider are his screams. Diablos has a nasty combo in which he screams first and then, while you’re still unable to move, either charges right at you or dives just to reappear instants later beneath your feet. Having an armor that renders his screams useless is a blessing, so consider crafting one for your encounters with the king of the desert.
